Feminists make better mates. Gee, whoda thunk it?Feminists have such a rotten reputation, and it isn't deserved. The negative depictions of feminists come from people who feel threatened by the movement and its ideals. That's why feminists are often depicted as man-hating, unattractive dykes. According to a recent study, that stereotype is far from deserved. I know you are squirming in discomfort now, because you know that feminists are sociopathic bitches who hate men. Let me lay that myth to rest – I am a feminist. You like my articles, right? So I can't be all that bad. Therefore, give feminists a chance. Social psychologist Laurie Rudman of Rutgers University found that feminist women were more likely to be in a romantic relationship than other women. Not only that, but a feminist woman's relationship with her man was healthier than average – "better in terms of relationship quality, equality, stability and sexual satisfaction." I have been a feminist for over a decade. My husband has always been very supportive of me and feminism in general. Our ideals are very similar. I tried to raise my son in a feminist manner, and I think I succeeded. While feminists tend to make the press regarding reproductive rights, education, and the glass ceiling, there is a very active feminist movement related to sexuality. I’m a part of that, as are Susie Bright and Candida Royale. A close male friend of mine thought that it might not be so much that the woman is feminist as opposed to a woman " who is a strong enough to be confident of herself that makes her a great partner." I countered by saying that description he gave is that of a feminist. My husband and I have a very egalitarian relationship. We take care of each other. He's a master cook, unlike me, so he takes care of most of the cooking. He likes to cook, and he likes cooking for me, so things work out well in that regard. The money I make from my sex and fiction writing help to pay our bills. Sexually, we're open to just about anything. We don't have any preconceived notions about how men and women should act in bed. I have a rather colorful sexual history, and my husband is comfortable enough with himself and with me that my past doesn't color our present. I think that a feminist makes a great sex partner because she wouldn't be governed by traditional stereotypes of how women should act sexually – as in they shouldn't act at all. A feminist woman owns her own body and sexuality, and she is comfortable with herself. Her partner or partners would benefit from that. I agree with the study that found that feminists make good partners. It makes perfect sense to me. A woman who is comfortable in her own skin would naturally be great in bed and would be an asset in any relationship.
