Taking inspiration from the Navy, designers such as Ralph Lauren and
Luella Bartley have championed the patriotic red, white and blue look
this spring.
"The nautical look is embraced by designers and consumers alike every
summer season. It's smart, easy and effortless chic that always works
well," says Marigay McKee, Harrods' fashion director.

"The palette of primary colours suits most skins and the capri pant and
stripy top transports us immediately to St Tropez, Portofino or Capri.
This season there's the added flash of gold that keeps the look fresh,
whether in the buttons, sandals or belt details. A winner every time."
Madeline Smith from Red adds "The nautical trend for this spring/summer
is a bit more riviera than the more military-inspired looks of last
year.
"It's best to avoid wearing it head-to-toe, but it's an easy trend to
incorporate touches of into your existing wardrobe. Touches of gold make
it glam."
