Gordan Ramsay’s brother held in drug charge
Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay's heroin addict brother has been arrested in Indonesia, allegedly for drug offences.
Reports say that Ronnie, who is in jail in Bali's capital Denpasar, was caught in possession of a gram of heroin which carries a maximum jail sentence of ten years in Bali.
The Foreign Office confirmed Ronnie was arrested and has been offered consular assistance.
A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: “All I can confirm is that someone by the name of Ronnie Ramsay has been arrested and was charged on Friday in Bali. We have offered consular assistance to him.”
Gordon, 40, star of Hell's Kitchen, is reportedly flying to 39-year-old
Ronnie's aid. A spokesman for Gordon said: “Gordon is incredibly close to his brother and his representatives are flying to Bali to try and help.”
Ronnie recently set up a new business in Bali which Gordon helped to finance. Last year in a serialisation of his autobiography, Humble Pie, Gordon told how he had been tormented by the sight of Ronnie frantically struggling to inject himself with the Class A drug.
He added that he had helped his brother to seek treatment five times for his drug problems, but worried that he may never be able to fully recover.
