Stress vs. Skin - Don’t Let Stress Win!

A few years ago results were released from a study involving mice, ultra violet light and stressful conditions.

Lindsay Lohan is a fanThe study, conducted at Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center and published in the December 2004 issue of the American Academy of Dermatology, ‘shows that mice exposed to stressful conditions and cancer-causing UV light develop skin cancers in less than half the time it took for non-stressed mice to grow tumors.’

Now, no one is comparing you to a mouse, but seeing as how UV light and stress are common factors that many of us are exposed to each day, we must take note of this data. Daily stress is a big part of most peoples’ lives. And it does in deed affect our largest organ, our skin.

Any number of nasty nuisances can stress our skin out, from dicey love relationships and monthly hormonal hells to seemingly endless financial struggles and constant work pressures. Our job is to fight the inevitable life and skin stressors that will always try to ruin our day.

Sarah Kugelman has created a superior line of skin care called skyn ICELAND, especially for stressed skin. These products help to detoxify, purify and soothe stress prone skin. I particularly love the Anti Stress Oral Spray. A quick spray under your tongue tastes great and helps to relieve tension. Keep this in your purse or desk drawer for all those unpredictable moments. (Lindsay Lohan is a fan of this unique spray, according to company reps!).

oral sprayMy other fave skyn ICELAND product is the Oxygen Infusion Night Cream. This stuff glides on like butter and makes my skin soft and supple. It absorbs easily and fully. When I wake up, my skin looks stunning, if I do say so myself! I will never be without this night cream!

Our bodies insist on exposing whatever we are dealing with, internally and externally, on our faces. It’s nice to know that when life hands us lemons (stress) we have ways to make lemonade (products, common sense and deep breathing.) Armed with knowledge and a commitment to consistency, your skin can fight the good fight against stress - and win.

5 No-Brainers to Help Stressed Skin:

1.Exfoliate skin at least once a week.
2.Moisturize skin daily.
3.Drink plenty of water.
4.Wear sunscreen each and every day of your life.
5.Limited alcohol and caffeine.
