Worrying is a national past-time for Britons. The average person spends 27 days a year worrying - and where you live influences what you worry about. Pinpoint your worry, find out if it matches your location and also how to cope with life's anxieties.

Worries by region

:: Yorkshire: Crime concerns them more than than anyone else in the country (59% vs national average of 50%), then they stress about ID fraud and theft. They will seek advice on their worries from websites.

:: North West: Cost of inflation (26%) tops their woes and one of top three regions in the UK to worry about their pets (10%). The others are the South East and Scotland.

:: North East: Terrorism concerns them most (53% higher than the figure for Londoners), and they also worry about losing their looks. They are the most likely to share their worries with their partners.

:: Midlands: Losing their national identity preoccupies them (22%), and also that their partner is cheating on them.

:: South West: Cost of living worries them (48%), then their general
personal health.

:: South East: State of the NHS (44%), then their sex lives, pets.
People they're most likely to share their worries with are their mums.

:: London: Fears over the gun/knife culture preoccupy them (42% placed this in their top 10 worry list), then property prices.

:: Scotland: Racism and prejudice worry them (21%), also the cost of
running a car, and pets.

:: Wales: Talk most to their pets and worry most about immigration and war in Iraq, followed by obesity.

:: Northern Ireland: Their children's future (60%), followed by concerns about body image. They share their problems with their children.
