Hooray! He’s finally popped the question! Finally, being the operative word. After six years, two children and a mortgage together Dale’s decided that the time is right to make things official. Or, as he ‘jokingly’ put it, he’s finally had enough of me “banging on about it”.
You see, my intended is what’s politely known as a reluctant groom. Or, not so politely, a big pain in the bum to someone like me who’s had her wedding day planned down to the last pink cupcake for, oh, at least five and half years now. It’s not that he’s against marriage. More that he just doesn’t see the point. We already live together, he’s argued, and we’ve already got kids so why waste a load of money that could be better spent on other, more sensible things (like reducing our huge mortgage yawn yawn). According to him I’ve missed my window for doing things the traditional way so why bother at all?
Well, I answer, perhaps so that I can have the big day where I get to wear a ludicrously expensive and impractical white dress and tiara combo, which, quite frankly, would look completely ridiculous at any other time.
