Every woman has their Mr. Big (think Sex and the City) or their Mr. Willoughby (think Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility). You will recognize a Big-Willoughby by the way he makes you feel.

This includes experiencing the following emotions or scenarios while dating: a general sense of confusion or loss of sanity, turbulent fights over the phone, an affinity for listening to songs about unrequited love while cruising in your car or while in bed listening to Bedtime Magic with David Allan Boucher, a fierce, passionate, intense and overly emotional sexual chemistry, an overall displeasure regarding said Big-Willoughby from friends and family, and last but certainly not least, a loss of self.

Typically, you fall quickly for this sort of fellow. He will perhaps come on strong at the beginning but then slowly start to show his true colors. He will make and then break dates with you, blow you off for friends, lead you on, tell you he misses you but do nothing to back it up, and just become an all-around unreliable guy.
Now that you have the keys to recognizing if you’re in the clutches of a Big-Willoughby, you’ll need to know a few more things. First, a Big-Willoughby will always, let me repeat, always get away (maybe that’s a good thing!) As many of my married and seriously involved friends have mentioned to me before, there will always be one man in your life that gets away. This is that man.
