The Newbury-raised lad has suffered a few knocks in showbiz, as well as on his body. Self-confessed 'injury-prone' Jamie has been through highs and lows in the music industry. He has high hopes for debut album, More Than Enough, out on Monday January 29, and second single of the same title, out on Monday January 15. nuts4chic Your 2007 is being kicked off with a new single and album. What are your hopes for the rest of the year? Jamie Pearce "It's scary, isn't it? I hope for a snowball effect with a few more singles to follow. I've got some interest from America, so I hope to do more travelling and writing. Once the record is out there, hopefully people will pick up on it and maybe it will get into the Top 20." n4c Your first single, Tabloid Queen, was released three years ago. What happened after its release? JP "Nothing happened. We toured with Blue and Britney Spears, but it just didn't take off. There was an error, so the single didn't register on the charts. We were told mid-week that it would go in at No. 19 but things went belly-up. It's a shame that it happened, but I feel things happen for a reason. "Since then, I've got away from the pop side of music, and focused on what I really want to do. I'm a lot happier with my new piano-driven rock sound." n4c So why did you take three years to write the album? JP "I had a lot of personal problems. I chopped part of my finger off in 2005, and had a skin graft, which stopped my piano playing. Then I dislocated my shoulder, so I was out for another eight months. "I've tried to get myself mended for the last three years, and things n4c You've been in the business for eight years now. Is there anything you wish you knew when you first started? JP "I wish I knew what a fickle and hard business it can be. It's been a
rollercoaster of a ride, full of ups and downs. It's been great - I've n4c Have you ever been tempted to go on The X Factor? JP "No, I've never been tempted to go on the show because I want to do it my way." n4c What about the party animal route to get your face in the papers? JP "A lot of people try to do that and get themselves photographed with anyone and everyone, and go here, there and everywhere. I do like going out and having a good night out, without overdoing it. I do have a couple of showbiz friends like Kevin [Simm] from Liberty X and Lee [Ryan] from Blue."
