Friday Use the Oyster to take you to places you may not have gone to in London. Meet tourist, back-packers, Londonites and people from all walks of life. When you’ve had enough window-shopping head to Camden. The great thing about Camden is that you can usually get into a club and hear outrageous bands perform for absolutely nought pence.
Saturday Browse the markets today. Rise at 6 so you can see them setting up. Start off with breakfast at Borough Market, near London Bridge. This food market sets the standard for others across the UK and if you can spare a couple of pence I would recommend sampling the wares. Head to Notting Hill and fight through the trendies and tourists before making your way to Portobello, where you can expect to find design students selling their ‘homework’ for almost nothing.
Sunday For a truly memorable experience head to St Paul’s Cathedral for a morning service. Even if you are not religious, a service in the world’s second-largest dome is not to be sniffed at. Why not take in a museum this afternoon. All museums across London are free, which means you could even look at more than one.
Cheap as Chips
Friday Take advantage of the godly Happy Hour, which is promoted across London on Fridays. A lot of bars around Picadilly have good deals, which almost always extends to the bar menu. Sugar Cube, in Glasshouse Street does a 50% discount on their bar and snacks menu as well as on bottles of wine between 6.30pm and 8.00pm. In Bar On Anon, which does half price bottles of wine till 8pm, you can reserve a table beforehand and stay there till the early hours, when a DJ will start spinning those wheels.
Saturday Eat out for less than a fiver in Angel where Market Street goes from selling old pears to an abundance of eat-all-u-can stop shops. Surprisingly, some of these are quite good. Angel Chinese does great veggie dishes for £3.99 and the Indian Pearl also does a very good £4.50 menu. Once you get past the Sambuca potatoes and dodgy Sake, Eat Tai is also passable, and for £4 what else can you expect? Well, at Afghan Kitchen you can pay £7 for a delicious infusion of lentils, lamb and sweet fruits.
Sunday Head to Kingston Upon Thames for a Sunday Roast with a bite. The Slug and Lettuce, in Turks Boat Yard is doing Buy-one-get-one-free on Sunday Lunches. It may seem like far to go, but we can’t resist the comfy sofas, where we are free to slouch with a view over the River Thames.

This underground Cocktail bar has a menu to tempt anyone, which has been exclusively designed by world-famous bartender and cocktail expert Dale de Groff. Call early to reserve a table, or face being shoved at the bar. 020 7494 9125
Saturday Hit the shops with a vengeance this weekend, leaving no corner unturned. Try Jane Hope shoes on Amherst Road, Islington, and Joseph, in Joseph Woods, for the perfect understated chic, before trawling Upper Street for some super antiques.
Sunday Relax yourself with treatments from the Sanctuary in Covent Garden, for a mere £59 you can get an Aromatherapy full body massage. Call 0870 770 3350.
